Review -ToA - 1000toys CRC (Close Range Combat) Body - NYCC 2015 exclusive

1000toys CRC (Close Range Combat) Body – NYCC 2015 Exclusive

Pros: Highly Articulated and posable, good weight and balance, removable helmet and clothes that are flexible enough to bend with the figure.

Cons: Close range combat body with no weapons! What gives? Sweater won't zip up.

Another New York Comic Con has come and gone and with it another round of bang up “exclusive” loot!  This year we see the fast growing fan favorite 1000toys make the jump to the American market for the first time.

The Con circuit can be rough on a toy company and 1000toys is no exception. In my last review of a 1000toys product I remarked on how much time and effort was put into the packaging and protection of the figure, but with this outing you can clearly see that the con rush had large impact in how we received this figure. It was plain brown cardboard for this chap; surrounded in bubble wrap the figure itself was bagged and headed.

This figure sees the addition of clothing and some new head gear go back to the classic Human test body frame. Unlike the previous Anti-CaRB the helmet for the CRC does not have the slip cover over it or the tubing to the chest plate. The helmet itself fits snugly over the head even with the under face-mask on. This is achieved by the two little foam bricks in the back of the helmet; so don’t remove them! The head follows the same construction as previous releases; so you can take the face mask off than remove the actual face so you can get at the eye balls and rotate them around to match whatever pose you’re going for. The eyes on the CRC have a bit more detail in them so be extra careful when playing around with the movement. The blue eye color and blood shot effect rub off very easily. The same goes for the blood shot effect on the actual eye sockets of the face mask.
The addition of clothing to the Human Test Body is a welcomed change. It helps add layers of depth to character that the figure already has. It is also nice that they put thought into the clothes so that it works with the amount of articulation it has. You don’t lose any range of motion because they decided to play dress up with this figure. You can see the areas of the pants that are made to expand when you hit those dynamic poses. The sweater is a similar design to the Anti-CaRB model with an inverse color scheme.

To top this set off they offered a 1:1 shirt, to match they toy you got, and synthetic human mask. The shirt has 2 possible designs, as does the figure, one for NYCC and one for TTF.  I still have no clue as to what they say and or mean so if you know please educate me! The mask itself is uber creepy just like it is on the figure, but is deceptively durable! From first glance it looks like a cheap plastic Halloween mask, but it’s made from sturdy materials that take some amount of effort to bend or break.

The re-coloring of the Synthetic Human Body is a welcome change; especially if you are like me and missed the first release of it, but it has some hiccups that could turn away certain collectors. It’s named as a combat body, but yields no weapons nor has and hands capable of holding a 3rd party weapon and the sweater has the look of functionality, but isn’t capable of being zipped up.  Overall 1000toys 5th outing is a lot of the same that makes them great; High articulation, great look and feel and balance enough to handle it.   The small nuanced differences are enough to warrant it as an exclusive product and is a great attempt for an overseas company to break into the western market and steak their claim.
